After carefully sifting through the claims and counter claims, ReCycle Charlotte comes out strongly in favor of the ReVenture Park project because:
1) The scientific data confirms that Waste-to-Energy enhances recycling (link to study)
2) The plan is different from historical incineration -- this is different
2) The net carbon footprint is positive (link to report)
3) The emissions will be less than the coal fired generation they replace (link to report)
4) The developer has committed to continuous monoriting (big deal)
The opposition has not fully informed the media or the population that this is part of a strategy to drive the population towards zero waste. We support zero waste, but we believe that people should have a choice. We choose education and community activitism over a 'subversive' agenda. read more...
